So far, officials say they have received 201 reports of illness in people who took Total Body supplements, which come in liquid form. The eight ounce and 32 ounce bottles of Total Body Formula (in tropical orange and peach nectar flavors) and 32 ounce bottles of Total Body Mega Formula (in orange/tangerine flavor) have been recalled. So far, 1,200 bottles of the supplements are believed to be affected by excessive levels of selenium and chromium. Those bottles were distributed in 16 states.
Patients report symptoms including hair loss, nail loss, discolored or painful nails, muscle cramps and fatigue. In severe cases, people can suffer neurological problems, including numbness in the limbs and kidney and liver failure. Symptoms generally occur between five and 10 days after starting use of the Total Body supplement.

Lawsuits have already been filed against Wright Pharma Inc., Global Nutrition LLC and Total Body Essential Nutrition Inc. alleging the companies were responsible for injury to consumers. The lawsuit seeks damages and also asks that Total Body and Wright Pharma stop distributing the supplement. The lawsuit alleges that the companies knew or should have known about the risks to consumers and should have prevented consumers from being exposed to those risks.More consumers are considering joining the class action lawsuit, or filing a lawsuit of their own, as they learn that their health problems may be linked to Total Body supplements. Some say they had no idea that their symptoms were the result of the supplements. They say they thought they were just under stress or becoming ill, but they did not suspect the supplement could have caused such drastic problems.
If you have taken Total Body liquid supplement and have a sample at home, you are advised to preserve the supplement for testing by putting it in a sealed container and refrigerating it. You should also have a blood test done to analyze your selenium and chromium levels.
