Manchester, NJCarol Millin's Pergo laminate flooring was not even a month old when she noticed huge scratches and dents. "Every day I would see little indentations appearing from nowhere and they are permanent," she says. But thanks to her perseverance—and understanding the fine print from her credit card company—Millin was able to get some compensation for Pergo's defective flooring.
"The reason we bought Pergo flooring was because they said it was the most durable flooring on the market today," says Millin. "My husband, Vinny and I looked around for a considerable time; then we got a Pergo sample in Lowe's Home Improvement store and ran a key across it really hard, it didn't make a scratch. We were sold."
They bought the flooring in February, 2006 but complaints to Pergo and Lowe's began one month later. "This flooring comes in individual pieces--long slats of wood in all different sizes so you can make it look like old fashioned hardwood," explains Millin. "Vinny lay the flooring the way Lowe's told us to do it but it looked all 'wavy'. Lowe's said it didn't need to be glued—'float it' they said. But it didn't work out that way.
"After Vinny had done a large area, some of it was up in the air. I walked over it and called Pergo direct. 'Oh no, you have to glue the floor,' a customer sales rep said. But it doesn't say that in their instructions. Luckily we were able to shoot the glue under the flooring and glued the rest.
"It was down about one month and I noticed that if I even dropped a pen on the floor, it made a scratch and dent. We have a big screen TV on wheels, and the entire floor now has dents from the wheels and marks where we rolled it. Imagine if we had kids—fuhgeddaboudit!
Then I sent Pergo an email, telling them the floor looks like hell.
Their email response: 'The beauty of this floor is that you can sand it and refinish it.'
He left me his phone number.
'Let me ask you something', I said. 'This floor is now six weeks old and not yet paid for. What part of that do you not understand?'
' But you know, you can get it refinished,' he said.
'It's on a delayed payment and guess what, it is never going to get paid,' I replied.
'If you are so unhappy, go back to where you purchased the floor and file a complaint with the store,' was his last comment.
I went back to Lowe's and went through the whole thing with them. They took my complaint. And I waited. I was so pissed off that I was getting jerked around. This floor cost $2,200.
Finally got a call from an independent contractor-he was going to look at my floor.
This 'inspector' asked me numerous questions. For instance, do I have a humidifier, is my house insulated? He brought out a huge magnifying glass, got on his hands and knees and looked at the dents and scratches. Then he took photographs and measured everything. 'I'll give my report to Pergo and you'll hear from us in a few weeks,' he said.
As it turned out, his visit was just a bunch of crap. He confirmed dents and scratches but said it had nothing to do with the warranty and wasn't covered. Pergo said, 'We're done.'
Back to Lowe's. The assistant store manager said, 'Just give us a few weeks and see if we can't make this right.' By now the floor is three months old. Lowe's return policy: 90 days with a receipt. They were stalling.
Everyone was missing the point: the floor wasn't paid for. I am so glad it was on delayed payment. I wasn't worried about my credit rating if I didn't pay it because on the back of my credit card, it says that if you have a defective product and you have made every effort with the company to try and resolve it and you have proof, you can dispute it and it won't reflect on your credit rating.
I then planned to make Lowe's life a living hell. They stepped on the wrong toes with me! I then posted my complaint online and on Lowe's website. Next up, Lowe's sent a letter and wanted to talk. They offered me a $100 gift card. What a joke--I wouldn't buy a screw from them!
'I will rip up this entire floor and dump it in your store and when I am done with you, you aren't going to sell anything,' I said. I'm a pit bull with lipstick.
Then I went online and phoned the Lowe's corporate office in North Carolina. And I sent certified mail.
Finally, one guy called and said, 'You tell me what you want.'
'Ideally, I want to give the floor back,' I told him.
'If that is what you want, we will take it back.'
(But Vinny custom-built banisters over the floor so we would lose about $1,000 if we returned the flooring.)
'This is what I want: credit me $1,000 on my charge card plus tax and I would pay the balance,' I suggested.
In August, 2006, they agreed.
Now we have runners everywhere covering the floor. It is not a living floor, it is a looking floor. But we are living with it-- we turn the other cheek."
If your Pergo floors are defective, please contact a lawyer involved in a possible [Pergo Laminate Flooring Lawsuit] who will review your case at no cost or obligation.
We purchase Moneta mahogany laminate flooring from Lowe's about three years ago it's high gloss so I have to wipe it everyday to keep it shiny looking that is the least of my worries. when we purchased the flooring we spend over $3,000 and that was okay because when the job was done it looked beautiful. We live on a second-floor condo so there's no moisture the thing is in the areas where the sun shines through the windows the a edges of the planks turned yellow green color. I had a baby and he's drooling was damaging the laminate flooring somehow whatever drop of drool well go in between the planks it will soap up into the planks and I have bubbling from my baby drools :(. The edges of the planks are coated with some kind of paint that is so low quality that even though we only walked with socks on the floor the color of the edges Has Lifted now all of the edges on the planks are turning Lite in Color. I trusted pergo to be high quality company and I didn't mind paying all that money I guess I was wrong I'm very disappointed with Pergo. When we were buying it we were under conclusion that this is commercial grade laminate flooring that is used in offices and waiting rooms,so this means that people walk on this with wet shoes, boots, sandals, high heels, maybe rain, sand, this also means that the commercial grade should be durable even exposed to all these elements. Wrong, this is not even a normal wear and tear I'm so disappointed with this company even when I called they're not too helpful they're telling me I need to do all these things I'm sure they will find so many loopholes and I doubt they will be honest and fix their mistake. I just wonder if there is a lawyer out there who deals with this kind of stuff I would honestly like to talk to that kind of person.

Made mistake of buying pergo for my kitchen based on recommendation from both Lowes and home depot. Never ever every looks clean. Every bit of dirt shows on it. Extremely stressful to have to clean it constantly. Not only that, it's extremely chintzy looking. Do yourself a favor and go for real hardwood.

Got pergo from Lowes approx 2.5 years ago and I started to see bulging at seams so I contacted Lowes and they sent out an inspector. Waited about 3 months with no call so I called Lowes again. No warranty which is what I expected.
They offered to sell me new flooring for a big discount. I ask when the floor was purchased about moisture and putting it in the kitchen. I was told it would be good for that. I never once saw the installer use a moisture meter which is what a lot of the complaints are about. The pergo in the kitchen has no bulges. In the sitting room there are a lot. No water has ever been put on this floor only the product they recommend has ever been used. I have two chiwawas and they have peed on the floor and it was wiped up and that is the only moisture ever put on floor. I bought Pergo for its name and salesman word from lowes it would be great for my use.
Guess I was wrong to have believed in either one.
It's not the 60's or 70's anymore when you could believe in the company and manufacturers. If it were found defective in thoughes time it would have been fixed with no arguments or lawyer.
Them there days are gone!!!!!!!!

Purchased Pergo flooring about 18 months ago. Not pleased with the product. We complained to Home Depot and a representative was sent out.We were told lifted seams in floor, due to moisture. No moisture has been on the floors. The floors were very expensive. The floor does not hold up to normal wear.

PLEASE HELP!!!!!!! Can anyone please help. I had the original pergo flooring installed in 2001. The pergo boards have the blue backing and the contractor also layed the blue subflooring.
I need to know the price per unit. I called Pergo and they couldn't help me. My condo development had to fix the mold around my sliding glass door and snapped several of my floor boards. Since my flooring is now discontinued the HOA will only pay a small portion unless I can find my receipt...(can't find) or find someone that had flooring installed around the same time with proof.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!!! Thank you!

We purchased a home in 1999 that had pergola floors. They were installed beautifully by the original owners in 1990. The original owners waxed the floors and told us to do the same. We now have a wax build up in some areas. Is there a wax remover we can buy that will not damage the floors as they still are in pretty good shape.

I purchased Pergo flooring from Menards. Within weeks any place there was moisture made the floor layers separate. I complained and Menards contacted a representative from Mohawk, who did send an "independent" inspector to my home. The inspectors' report was completely biased in favor of Mohawk (Pergo). The blame was put on the installers.
Previously I had a Pergo floor in my kitchen (that receives the most moisture) and it was in perfect condition after 20 years so that is why I purchased it for 4 rooms and hallway. Wouldn't you think 20 years later the product should be even better? Back then the pieces were glued together so as not to allow for any moisture. Even after the 2007 class action lawsuit, they are making the inferior product. Unfortunately, its all about the money and keeping people quiet. How about another class action lawsuit with better results?

PERGO MAX is cheaply made flooring that you have to be very careful with. My mother just bought Pergo Max from Lowes and it was installed today. DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT!!!!! We were moving the refrigerator back in place and it scratched the floor. It wasn't a very big scratch but that is when we realized the product is thin colored paper with a thin coat of plastic. The white base is now showing. THIS IS NOT A DURABLE FLOOR!!! I have already talked to the manager at Lowes and will visit him tomorrow. The claims of this being a durable floor is false advertising by Pergo and Lowes. YOU CAN REPORT FALSE ADVERTISING TO THE FEDERAL TRADE COMMISSION. You would be amazed at the number of companies that get away with this because no one reports it. Also, call the corporate office of the company that you purchased it from. This product need to be taken off the shelf.

I first was introduced to Pergo when my friend had it installed in her custom build house in Florida about 14 years ago. It came out beautiful and she even had it in her master bathroom. Never a problem with her floors and she had two toddlers and all the indoor toys, many with wheels and yet never a complaint about any damage to her floors.
Because of this when we bought our house that was about a hundred years old we decided to put Pergo flooring in some rooms. It was a beautiful light wood with flower design. We had it professionally installed and I thought it worked well for the character of the house and never had a problem. To me the floors have been so much easier to take care of then real wood. One night hubby decided to spray paint a piece of metal on newspapers on the floor (UGH) without me knowing. The next day I see a square of dark brown spray paint on the floor and thought he ruined the floor. I took a dish sponge with the scrubby side and some warm water and gently wiped off the paint in probably 3 minutes. Don't think I could have done that with wood.
With our house now I wanted wide plank beach type flooring and I found it online at the Pergo Factory Outlet at a fantastic price. I think I ordered about 90 boxes. I hired a professional Union floor guy who knew everything about flooring. He installed my flooring and it is my favorite design/look ever. No problems, the floor is even, it did have the felt under layer attacked to the laminate. It flows from room to room and looks perfect. I do have wood in some other rooms and through the years the wood is not looking that great and will need to be refinished.
While I am sure with any product one can have problems my friend and I have not had any and I would buy Pergo for my next house when we move. I also plant on having it installed in our upstairs bedroom.

I must be lucky like Dan B. I installed Moneta Mahogany about 5 years ago in my Dining Room. First of all, it was super easy to install myself. I've installed several laminate floors, from the super cheap stuff to the Sam's product, and I will never buy anything but Pergo.
My floor looked amazing when I put it in, and still looks amazing. The reason I installed it was that the carpet I had looked really bad because it was in a high traffic area. That issue no longer exists, because the Pergo has held up . . . almost flawlessly.
My only guess is that there are a few rules I followed when i installed it (and after).
1 the floor has to be in the room for 24 hours or more before installing, so it can acclimate.
2 I made sure the sub-floor was level by adding a layer of 1/4 in. ply wood before installing the Pergo.
3 I made sure to leave 1/4 in. space on to sides of the room to account for natural expansion and contraction of the floor
4 I made sure not to use glue! because the floating floor need to be able to expand and contract with the changing environment
5 I keep my house pretty much the same temp, only allowing for a 2 degree variance from winter to summer.
When I read through the comments, it seems like a lot of people had problems that could have been avoided with a proper install. Here's the thing. I talked to a few installers before I decided to do it myself. Many seem to have an aversion to floating laminate floors . . . because it takes away more and more wood floor installs. and the word "floating" seems like an especially bad word.
I'm just trying to help. I love my Floor. I have Bruce Bristol Strip 3/4 Wood right next to it and it's hard to decide which one is better. for the price, though, especially installation, I will go with Pergo from this day forward.

My wife and I looked at all the stores for a laminate floor that would complement the two rooms and modernize a 1985 house to be more up to date. We ended at Lowe's and found the laminate flooring we wanted. It was Pergo Max Vera Mahogany with a Lifetime warranty. We had a lot of sguare feet so it took 33 boxes of Pergo to do both rooms.
When the installer started to lay down the panels, he noticed that there were chip up where th twp panels came together at the top were raised. He called his company and informed them of that and they informed Lowe's so they filed a claim and we were sent 33 more boxes of Vera Mahogany in 5 weeks later. The same installer came outand started ripping up the first floor and then putting down the second try when he noticed there were lines going down the rows now. not a clean apperance. Anothe claim was filed by Lowe's and in 4 more week came a third 33 boxes and I thought 3rd time is a charm but i was wrong. It was worse then the second box with lines. What i couldn't figure out is how can there be differences in a panel the same size but a cm or less not as wide as the good ones, causing the white lines to appear. Again Lowe's filed a claim. Now Pergo responded they would not send another shipment. Pergo is owned by Mohawk, who owns other companies as well. I have found when large companies like Mohawk buy a company that is in direct competition with them and then cause the product to be defective so that it will down grade the name and ultimately allow them to close the company for a tax loss.
Pergo Max laminate floors are the most expensive Lowe's sells. Lowe's has been a great help but the people at Pergo or Mohawk have sent the same crappy product 3 times and that could onlt be their quality control doesn't exist for some reason. I would thing every panel in the box is the exactsame size to the cm and if so there wouldn't be white lines appearing on various paets of the floor.
Lowe's is looking to see if there is a color the same as Vrea Mahogany but with a different company name so that we can get our lives back to normal and make one wife proud of what we have and not settle for crap.

As I read through these comments I see some that sound legitimate and others that are just plain lies. The first one about Pergo telling them to glue it is an outright lie. I work for pergo and no one in customer care will even dream of telling someone to glue a glue less floor! Also there is no way it dented and scratched from rolling a TV around on it.
Then there is the one about termites coming out of the flooring packages and infesting their house. Impossible!!
#1 termites don't eat laminate wood products because of the glue used to make it.
#2 how long due you think an infestation takes? Didn't happen overnight and if there were millions of termites in the packages I think you would have seen them coming out when you opened the package. Hell they should have been everywhere in the store you purchased from also.
They already had termites and were looking a scapegoat to pay for it when they found them.
Then there is the formaldehyde one. OMG we are sick and our noses are bleeding. We did air quality tests. WTF ever. There is a very minute amount of formaldehyde used in the manufacture of any US laminate flooring. Most companies use 0 formaldehyde. Carb laws ensured that years ago. They saw the lumber liquidators china flooring piece on 60 minutes and are trying to gain financial compensation.
What a bunch of liars some of these are. I'm sure there are some legitimate claims as there always is when dealing with mass produced products.
Give me a break. Please use common sense when reading things on the internet.

We purchased pergo laminate in 2014 and our whole family has gotten deathly sick from it with asthma, severe nosebleeds, chronic sinus infections, extreme swelling of eyes, etc. Pergo and home depot refuse to do anything to help. They will not take out the product. This has been a living nightmare. We had to flee our home and have been homeless. I cannot believe pergo can be allowed to put this poison. We did air quality year and it caused our formaldehyde levels in our house to be very high.

I had my entire home refloored with Pergo Emerson Oak Laminate.
The problem I have is the noxious smell coming from the floor.
I called Lowes and they denied ever having a problem.
I also talked to Pergo and they denied ever having a problem.
The office gal stated they complied with California law on
formaldehyde (voc) emission.
Where do I go from here the product is paid for due to my
honesty and loking to pay my bills on time.

In 2013, after saving for years to finally fix a very old kitchen My husband cashed out his retirement acct so we could get a functional kitchen. We figured "It's an investment" and it'll be "forever" To that end I researched everything we put in the kitchen. I spoke to Pergo reps and home depot reps regarding pergo over several months. Some selling points : "Best Warranty in the business", "Your house can fall down and the floor will still look like the day you bought it". "It is tough, it takes all the abuse you can give it", "It looks good and lasts a lifetime!"
Ok, for a room with not a heck of a lot of traffic, in a house with no large animals or small kids, it sounded ideal and we were assured it was. I discussed it with our contractor and after telling him what I was told and showing him the pergo "sales points" I was referred to he agreed it probably would be the least hassle over time. Low maintenance, strong, sturdy.
The floor was installed in June 2013 by a licensed professional. He did a wonderful job. It looked great. I wish that was the end of this story. It is not.
In January if this year, we noticed the floor seemed uneven, it caught your shoe when walking by, you seem to sink in places. On inspection, the flooring was failing. The edges warped, the ends were coming apart, it was bending. By march it was bulging and bubbling all over and my calls and messages to pergo were not getting returned. I finally was told how to file a warranty claim and proceeded to do so with Home Depot here in Florida. ( NOT pleasant ) I did everything they asked of me, pictures, receipts, detailed info to have my claim turned down. Evidently their "best in the business warranty" means "unless you file a claim because your less than 2 year old floor suddenly turns to crap." This floor was not: In direct sun, installed outdoors, wet mopped, exposed to water, installed improperly, used for purpose other than residential. They then tell me, If it is installed over raised foundation, on concrete, on wood it is void ( WTF is left to install it on?) (we installed it per their instructions too.. that doesn't matter) It seems the "lifetime warranty" is 60 days for floor failure and ONLY covers fading after that and only if they BELIEVE you didn't MOP???? the floor?
1200.00+ To get a new floor only to have it turn to crap in less than 2 years and we are expected to "suck it up"? That might not seem like a lot for some, but to us, that is YEARS of saving. THEY do NOT stand behind their product. We were told they will not do anything. And home depot was no help either. They refused to even deal with the claim at first or stand up for a product they sell. Not only did they decide it wasn't covered, they sent NO ONE to even look at the floor. They did it all by Phone and email!
This was NOT what we understood we were getting. Who wants a floor you need to replace every two years? WHO has that kind of $$ on hand? So, we are AGAIN left with a floor that is unsafe and I cannot allow my son ( who is disabled) to be on. We are back to where we started. And we clearly threw out a portion of my husbands retirement on NOTHING. Pergo is NOT a good product, NO flooring should fail after less than 2 years. Oh, and Trying to get them to answer you on their Facebook page? They remove it and block you. Nice.
As of Friday I filed a claim with the BBB. In the meantime, BUYER BEWARE. "Best Warranty in the Business" means FOR THEM, not YOU.

Wow. This very disheartening. I, too, am dealing with Lowe's and Pergo for laminate flooring. Only MY complaint is that the flooring was 90% installed when we realized it was infested with TERMITES. Yes, TERMITES. The nasty bugs have already taken up home in my kitchen wall that is now damaged. Not to mention the bill from Terminix. And the work myself and my boyfriend did to install it and then tear it back out!! I'm being put off and given the run around. I'm so PISSED OFF i could spit. We begged lowe's to come out and get the stuff off my property. They would do no such thing. Finally, they did come and get it but were reluctant to give me a refund for it! They owe me a whole lot more than what i think they are willing to give me...and I don't stop.

Bought Pergo Elegant Expression in Dec. 2010 for the dining room, living room and hallway. Purchased the flooring through a flooring company and was installed by them. My problem is that the finish on the floor has worn off in the kitchen area so I keep rugs over it until I can find out how to remedy the problem. We bought Pergo because it is advertised as a "forever" flooring and was very disappointed to notice how it is wearing. There is only my wife and myself as well as a 10 lb. dog. It should hold up to that, right??
Need a solution on how to remedy this problem. Like most, I have had no satisfaction from Pergo and the flooring store has since gone out of business. Help!!

I myself bough PergoMax October installed November by December 2013 I've noticed blistering or swelling on my floors, easily nicked, making noise when walking I immediately call Lowes and send the guy who installed (Lowes subcontractor) and pictures taken a month after they send Pergo guy more pictures taken I guessed he can't find any reason why the floor that is just installed for a little a month showing swelling so he blamed Bona the product that I cleaned it with specifically for laminated floors. I was tired of calling and waiting from both company and it is already May of 2014 still not resolved to this point I want my money back, no family should've gone through like this. I wrote BBB, send note to corporate office of Lowes and Pergo, so far BBB and Lowes responded but not Pergo (that tells a lot what company we are dealing with). Never again or anybody DO NOT BUY PERGO product EVER. Don't understand why Lowes or Home Depot still selling this product after all the complaint from the consumer. Hope we all get our money back. I will install hardwood and dealt with termites at least I know who to call.

after reading everyones comments it looks like the problem is with the installation of the flooring, you MUST have a LEVEL SUBFLOOR, if there are low spots in the floor it will cause an array of issues.
YOU MUST USE SELF LEVELING CONCRETE TO TAKE THE LOW SPOTS OUT OF THE SUB FLOOR / FLOOR. IT IS EXPENSIVE $30-$40 PER BAG WHICH COVERS 50SQFT at most. AND YOU must SEAL THE FLOOR UNDER IT AS WELL TO PREVENT THE PERGO FROM ABSORBING MOISTURE. AND DEFINITELY USE GLUE REGARDLESS OF WHAT YOU HEAR
EVEN IF YOU TAKE THESE STEPS PERGO IS NOT AS DURABLE AS ENGINEERED / , SOLID HARDWOOD. FOR THE MONEY 3SQFT YOUR BETTER OFF WITH A ENGINEERED FLOORING.

Wife and I purchased Pergo Nantucket Pine laminate and a year later saw some curling ( seperation top layers of some planks ) Pergo ( mfr) sent an agent to inspect the floors and determined the problem was due to installation. Reported Pergo's findings to Carpeland USA, We got the owner to come to our home to see and inspect the floors. He ( owner ) reported problem is with Pergo. Complained to BBB to no avail. Have filed and is taking them ( Carpetland -store that sold the pergo laminate _ and against the mfr Pergo) to small claim court.
We petitioned that the salesperson be included in our suit too. We spent over $8000 for our laminate floors, are retired , senior citizen and a vet I am. Just fed up and I am not going take it any longer.

This is stupid and you clearly dont understand credit cards. You have never worked retail and your husband cant read directions.
1. You picked a wood floor from pergo that was not laminate?
2. You paid for it in full regardless if you used a credit card. How you paid for it is not the concern of anyone but you.
3. You were wearing high heels on this floor I would put money on it.
4. How nice of lowes to make up for your stupidity and how wrong of you to be a pit bull with lipstick to the people who are trying to help you.
You clearly think you were right and the outcome was just but basically you and you hubby messed up and you bullied someone else into taking the blame.
Good job for being an a plus human being.

I was totally wrong when I bought Pergo Flooring with a LIFETIME WARRANTY ( limited). I now know the meaning of limited. Limited means if anything goes wrong with this poorly made laminate, PERGO WILL NEVER DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT.
I trusted the PERGO name and thought I was upgrading to a floor I could count on for at least 10 years. Less than 1 year later the floor was crumbling, falling apart from too much cleaning. Pergos inspector slipped away after viewing the floor, and did not even talk to me about what he found. Do yourself a favor and NEVER BUY FROM THE PERGO COMPANY, no matter what they say they will never stand behind their product.

Wow
I must be the luckiest Pergo customer. I had Pergo's
Moneta Mahogany installed in three rooms in nov 2011.
It looked beautiful from day one but as the luster of new
faded I noticed some minor flaws I was not happy with so I
took photos of them and went back to Lowe's, who also
installed the floor. Lest than 2 day's later the same installer
returned and corrected the problem. I had a year warranty
on the install and it was near experation when I noticed a
slight chip in a piece at a transition zone from room to room.
again I did the above noted and less than 2 days an installer
repaired the piece and even replace the transition piece from
room to room and it looked even beter than before althought
I did not see a problem with it

Less than two (2) years ago I purchased Pergo's 'Prestige' Acadia Oak 10mm flooring from Home Depot. Shortly after installation I discovered a corner of one of the pieces had chipped away and theadjacent seam beginning to curl away from the board, exposing the underlayer. I contacted Pergo and they referred me to Home Depot. I called Home Depot and they told me I had to call Pergo. After several calls with false promises, I just gave up. I attempted to fill the large chip with some laminate filler I found at home depot along with attempting to glue the seam and weighting it until it dried. (All to no avail). Now, after the second summer of having been down, an area of about 7' X 9' in front of one of my windows, (one that is opened for ventilation because the outside is covered with a canvas awning preventing the entry of rain) is now warped, buckling, separating and peeling from the masonite underlayer that the laminate is adhered to. I strongly believe that this is being caused by a high humidy situation and moisture is seeping into the seams of the flooring. I'm sixty-one (61) years old, on disability and truthfully just too darn tired to fight with Pergo or Home depot. I contracted the original installer of my 2010 installation and asked him to just chop it out and replace it rather than redo the entire floor. Well, guess what? The color and style I purchased only two(2) years ago is no longer available!! I've searched all over and can't locate a scrap of it. Not in any lumber yard, panalling center or even e-bay. Because H.D. only sold this particular color online, none of their stores have anything laying around as old stock. What the H___ do they do with it when it becomes discontinued? Eat it? I'm truely in a dilemma.

Pergo floor installed circa 2003. I have a dog. I have tried everything to get the scratches off of a floor that is not suppose to scratch. After reading all of the complaints of the lack of responsiveness of PERGO representatives I am not looking forward to dealing with HD and PERGO Inc. about my problem......but I will try. In the mean time if anyone has a solution to get rid of the scratches (other than ripping out the floor :-) ) please contact me: jskalame@kissimmee.org or joeskalamera@embargmail.com or 321-231-4615
Thank you.

I bought from Lowe's Pergo's Casual Living Oak because they were pushing an installation included special when the product was over $2.90 Sq. Ft. So I got a high cost product, thinking it would at least be as good as the cheap Pergo I installed in my studio 8 years ago and that is still doing well. Had it professionally installed by Lowe's contract installer who has been doing this for over 35 years. He said my underflooring (linolium) was clean and smooth and no need for other treatment. A month later, its buckling in many place, bubbling up and "cupping" in hallways, living room and kitchen. The Lowe's representative came out and rushed into the kitchen, which only had one failed seam, and shouted out that it was obvious I had spilled water all over and that was the cause. There unfortunately was a drop of water from a glass of water I had just poured, so she knelt over to photograph that 20 times to prove her point. She failed to acknowledge the buckling and craks in hallway, living room, etc. As she was leaving she advised that "Pergo never has paid and never will pay a claim under their warranty". Great. I know where she stands on this matter.

First, let me start by saying I have been a flooring installer for 24yrs. I installed for Lowe's for 7yrs. During that time we were told to add an additional 10% to our estimated figures. The customer was then charged labor for the additional 10% if they didn't notice. On numerous occasions, too many to list, I advised the Installed Sales Department and the managers the product was defective. I was instructed to install it because Lowe's only offered a 1yr installation warranty. If it made it past that, the customer would have to obtain any warranty through the manufacturer. 99.99% of all inspections are not honored unless it is clearly a finish flaw. The "inspectors" even though they call themselves independent, side with the manufacturer and list the problem as a installation issue. The product the big box stores offer is the worst quality flooring offered in my opinion. The sales personnel are not given any training and have had most of their commissions removed. The new installers are working for substantially less pay and have no vested interest in providing quality service because they are not business owners. Their reputation is not on the line and do not rely on referrals. Bottom line, stay away from Lowe's and H.D. You don't get what you pay for.

Purchased original Pergo around 1998 for 3 rooms plus hallway. Professionally installed. Glued. Water heater leak wiped out all but one room in 2004. The remaining room still looks brand new after 14 years. It's the family room and is heavily used, with large dogs and a muddy entrance. Very satisfied.
Replaced the damaged rooms with glueless Pergo in 2004. Very dissatisfied. Seams develop in the cold winter. Other areas push up in summer. Would only use again if glue is used. Installers were great. They even returned after 5 years to make repairs to the seams, no charge. Just happens again though.
Added Dupont laminated to my bedrooms in 2007. This time went HD to save money. Good product, but sloppy installation. Complained and part of it was ripped out and replaced.
Sold place last month. Getting flooring for condo. This time i will steer clear of HD and Lowes and go to the higher priced independent. Will insist floors be glued down.

i am currently replacing a job i installed 8 months ago due to seems opening and the seems are uneven, this is a snap lock system ,the material cost over 3 grand, now today started to replace the floor which has been at the job site unboxed to acclamate to the house for three weeks ,no difference between this new batch and crap i installed the first time.this is by far the worst damn material on the market and as a professional flooring installer with over 27 years of experience i will never under any circumstances install pergo again. i have installed alot laminate and would say QUICK STEP is by far a much better material and i have never had any problems with quick step instalation..no more pergo for me im in the business to make money not lose it and my reputation as a result of a worthless product and manufacture who refuses to take responsibility for selling garbage.

My Pergo floor is one week old. I took the kitchen chairs into the kitchen last night, and today the area where the chair was pulled back is totally destroyed by scratches that are so deep I can feel them with my fingernails. My dining set is less than a year old, and the chairs have the plastic slides that protect the floor on them, so I feel sure it it isn't that the chairs are in bad condition. The floor looks as if it is 10 years old. I am having much more work done in my kitchen because I have dreamed of having a beautiful kitchen for years, but the floor looks so terrible, I feel sure that the only thing I can do is have the contractor take it up and put something down that will last more than ONE WEEK. I have not contacted the company yet, but I am so upset by this horrilbe floor that I am sick!!

I installed my Pergo floor about 16 years ago, and love it.
However, even though I was shown that the heel of a woman's shoe banged down on it would not dent it, I have many dings where something fell on it. But more than that, I have a cleaning lady who takes care of the floor as I am
disabled, and I have mess on the floor now.
The laminate is in my kitchen and attached dining area and in the kitchen she must have been using a "clean and shine"
product that left a build up of wax that has all kinds of scratch marks on it. Also, in the dinette area, she must have used a very strong cleaner and all the shine is gone.
I purchased it because it was the first laminate in the market, paid a lot of money for it, and would certainly be beholden to you if you can tell me how to save my floor.

Don't buy Pergo! I did and had it installed by Lowes (their "factory authorized subcontractor") in my hallway, kitchen and powder room. From day one, I had issues with transition strips and moldings coming loose -all were replaced numerous times at additional cost to me for material.Their exclusive Pergo Cottage Oak flooring has a 35 year warranty but in just 5 years the flooring has warped, corners are cracking, sections od laminate are peeling, and the boards are loosing color - every joint of this floor moves when you walk on it. If you are barefoot your feet will be pinched by the loose planks. Now the floor is separating at the joints and the color is wearing off at the seams and corners.Pergo won't honor their warranty because I have a slab foundation. But this is the product that Lowes recommended and it is endorsed by Pergo for installation over concrete! I am stuck with pieces of junk instead of the beautiful floor that Pergo & Lowes promised. See Pergo's website and the great dane running across the flooring -it is a pack of lies. This floor won't hold up so save your money. I'm out over $4400 and the floor looks terrible! It will never be functional. Today the Warrington Lowes installation manager offered me a $1220 settlement although this floor cost me $1500 for installation alone

My floor is defective and the store will not give me the name of the Representative.
Do you happen to know it for Massachusetts?
Thank you
