The Nissan G35 Infiniti has reportedly suffered from brake problems prior to 2005, when defective brake assemblies in the 2003 and 2004 model years prompted Nissan to amend its warranty coverage to cover brake pad and rotor replacement for 3 years or 36,000 miles.
All one need do is peruse the list of complaints filed with the National Highway Traffic Safety Association (NHTSA) for proof of defective brakes.
"Brake failure. Rotors continually being cut. Dealer claims rear brakes 'completely worn' at 19,900 miles and front rotors again need to be cut."
"The brakes were defective. Dealer serviced the brakes several times and the manufacturer stated that the problem would continue to exist because the parts being placed onto the vehicle were also defective. There was a constant squealing even when the brakes were not applied."
The foregoing complaints were related to the 2003 model Infiniti FX35. However, there are similar problems with brakes on 2003 to 2005 Nissan Infiniti G35s, according to a number of disgruntled G35 owners who have filed various complaints with consumer affairs.com. It should be noted that the G35, which was Motor Trend's 'Car of the Year' in 2003, is Nissan's entry-level luxury car. Owners would be forgiven for expecting performance akin to other rear-wheel, luxury cars in its class.
Apparently that hasn't been the case.
Here's what Steve, of Mission Viejo, California had to say: "I have a '04 G35 Coupe and have already needed to have my brakes replaced at 19,000 miles. This is the rule for G35s and Infiniti needs to step up to the plate and fix the cause of this problem."
Anderson of Mckinney, Texas says: "All of the reports that you have heard about premature brake wear and rotor replacement on the G35 is correct. I own a 2003 G35 sedan and constantly have to deal with this problem. Replace the pads and / or rotors and still have brake squeal and wear within 3 to 4 months."
There's more: "We own a new G35 and the brakes need to be replaced at 13,000 miles. They tell me this is normal? I don't know about you but that is not normal from my 54 years of experience," says Bill of Loveland, Ohio.
"They say it is because the G35 is a high performance vehicle. I've owned high performance vehicles in the past and have never experienced this so soon," says William, a Nissan owner who lives in Atlanta.

Even though Nissan is said to have conceded the problem on it's earlier models and beefed up the warranty for the 2005 model year, there have been reports of dealers balking at repairing the allegedly faulty brakes, as braking systems are universally regarded in the automotive industry as a 'wear item.'Nissan Infiniti G35 owners think otherwise and various lawsuits are a testament to their disfavor.
If you have experienced a problem, or incurred significant extra cost with regard to your Infiniti G35 2005 vehicle, you would be well advised to see a lawyer. A squeal every time you apply a Nissan brake should not, one would assume, exist as a feature of a luxury car. If you have a problem with your Infiniti brakes, seek the services of a qualified attorney.
