An estimated $142 million settlement has been approved in the class action lawsuit filed against Sprint, Qwest, Level 3 and WilTel. The suit was filed on behalf of approximately 360,000 landowners who own property where fiber-optic cables have been placed. The companies had paid railroads to allow them to place fiber-optic cables along their tracks, however it was discovered that the railroads didn't own the land.
