A $12.3 million dollar settlement has been reached in the class action lawsuit filed against Microsoft Corp. on behalf of Montana consumers who purchased certain Micrsoft products between March 28, 1996, and Aug. 31, 2002, alleging that the company violated the state's antitrust and unfair competition laws. The settlement will be distributed in the form of vouchers that the plaintiffs may use to purchase any manufacturer's desktop, laptop and tablet computers, any software used with those computer products, and specified peripheral devices for use with computers. Half of any unclaimed proceeds from the settlement will be donated to needy schools in the state in the form of vouchers for hardware products. (May-05-03) [PRESS RELEASE]
