Kia Motors America
On May 27, 2005 a Philadelphia jury entered a $5.64 million verdict in favor of a 9,400 member plaintiff class of Pennsylvania purchasers/lessees of the Kia Sephia model car for model years 1997-2000. The certified class action alleged that Kia Motors America delivered Sephia cars with defective brake systems that wore out prematurely because the brake system design was unable to dissipate heat adequately. The action is entitled Samuel-Bassett v. Kia Motors America, Inc., Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas, No. 0101-2199. Michael D. Donovan of Donovan Searles, LLC was class counsel. (May-27-05)
