A $5 million settlement has been reached in the securities fraud class action lawsuit filed against First Union National Bank. The bank was accused of aiding and abetting Cyprus Funds, a company that ran a multi-million dollar securities investment scheme. The fraud caused 531 investors, many of whom were Ohio retirees and wealthy Latin Americans, to lose approximately $34 million. (Aug-12-03)
