Approximately 80 people living near Boone County filed a class action lawsuit against the car dealership and financial provider for allegedly selling vehicles without cleared titles. Credit Acceptance allegedly advanced money to Hebron but did not require proof of car titles. The auto dealer would then use the money to pay for previously sold cars. The lawsuit claims the two companies participated in a "car-kiting" scheme and essentially defrauded car consumers.

I purchased a vehicle from Hebron Auto Sales in Oct of 2005. Months went by and I was unable to get a title. The vehicle's transmission went out so I chose to return it. I was told it would not be held against me and now it is showing on my credit report as a repo. I paid a 2000.00 down payment plus made my monthly payments up until I returned the vehicle. How fair is it that I am being held accountable when I held up my part of the deal. I had to have a vehicle to drive. I couldn't afford two payments. Where do I go from here? I am now remarried and moved to California. Trying to obtain an auto loan and can't due to this ding on my credit report.
