A class action lawsuit has been filed against 107 Stratford High School Principal George McCrackin; the City of Goose Creek, S.C.; the Goose Creek Police Department; Police Chief Harvey Becker; and other school administrators and police. The suit was filed on behalf of 107 Stratford students who allege that the defendants violated their Fourth and Fourteenth Amendment rights which protect them from unreasonable search and seizure, and the deprivation of liberty without due process respectively. The charges stem from a drug raid which occurred at the school on November 5, 2003. The "commando-style" raid was sanctioned by the school and produced no finding of drugs. The suit is also charging the defendants with assault, battery and false arrest.
