The class action suit alleges fraudulent price-gouging tactics to make money from treatments provided to the poorest uninsured patients. The original complaint came from Danielle Lebherz who spent less than 24 hours in emergency and was charged $22,000. If she had been covered by an HMO, her insurance would have had to pay $15,000 less. The class lawyer is claiming uninsured patients get left with severely inflated and unfair rates for hospital services. (Feb-23-05)
