A federal class action lawsuit has been filed against the nursing home for allegedly retroactively terminating employee health care coverage. The lawsuit was filed in federal court against Pleasant Care on behalf of nearly 5,000 current and former employees.
Pleasant Care facilities were being operated by Tutera Group, who allegedly knew retroactive termination was illegal, but decided to put the interests of Pleasant Care's banking creditors ahead of Pleasant Care's employees. Workers have been left with thousands of dollars in unpaid medical bills that they believed were covered. Employees now face substantial difficulties in obtaining other medical coverage because of preexisting conditions and the gap that was created in their coverage history.
