Class Action certification has been granted by the Ontario Superior Court of Justice to several lawsuits filed against more than two dozen Ontario automobile insurers. The suits are in regards to the insurance deductibles withheld by the defendant insurers for cars written off as a result of collision, theft, fire or vandalism. The suits have been filed on behalf of any person in Ontario who has been insured by one of the defendants, whose car was written off and who paid a deductible, as well as individuals who meet the class requirements however they received a refund of their deductible within the one year prior to the filing of the claim against that insurer.
