San Francisco, CA: Macy' and its subsidiaries are facing a consumer fraud class action alleging they mislead consumers regarding so called cost-saving deals. Filed by Todd Benson, individually and for all others similarly situated, the lawsuit asserts that the defendants advertise their merchandise with "sale" or "discount" prices alongside "original," "regular" or "compare at" prices.
According to the complaint, however, the "original," "regular," or "compare at" prices are artificially inflated in order to make the "sale" or "discounted" prices appear more attractive to customers.
The lawsuit names Macy's Inc., Macy's West Stores Inc., and Bloomingdale's Inc., alleging violations of California's Consumer Legal Remedies Act and other violations of the California Business and Professions Code.
The plaintiffs are represented by attorney Rosemary M. Rivas of Finkelstein Thompson in San Francisco. The case is US District Court for the Northern District of California Case number 4:16-CV-01252-DMR.

Macys is tricky. They got me with a blouse I bought.
Macy's has:
the original price,
the sale price,
then the 30% of the sale price.
When you get to the register the sale price rings up and they rob you of your 30% of the sale price. That's how they cheated me.

I shop at Macy's frequently and is a card holder. Pricing is definitely inflated. Or Store have merchandise discounted but at the register is is not on sale. Coupons does not always apply when you use them. Please add me to this lawsuit.

I agree the pricing is totally inflated and then marked down to make it seem like your getting a great deal. Also agree they send coupons out to use. You try to apply them to your purchase only to hear I'm sorry it's not applicable to your purchase ! Very frustrating !

I have been a "loyal" Macy's shopper, in store and especially online. I always assumed that I was getting a good deal. Please include me in this class action.

I ordered a set of what I thought were nice earings for a big savings . Originally priced at a high amount .upon receiving them wow. I looked like an ass. No where near advertised price. Or the price I paid. Needless to say my Christmas gift I bought for my wife was bad. I'm calling a lawyer and also will return items to Macy's after i record all information .

this is happening all over Macy's Corporation. I am in the NY suburb area where there is a macys. I shop all the time and I often asked the cashier how can this price be different from what is advertised. She said that not only me have been complaining others have come in with this same concern. she mentioned about this site that there are attorneys who help people like you on this class-action website.Happy I have found you. i hope we can put macys to shame with their SCAM tactics. i work to hard for my money, and further to be taken by a company I trusted for many many years.....

I bought an expensive jacket at Macy's in R.I. I shop there frequently and the jacket was NEVER on sale. Before I realized that I needed a larger size, I lost my receipt. I returned to exchange but they did not have any left and would only credit me what they said was the "lowest price" which was much lower than what I paid and the price ticket was still attached to the jacket.

Bought 3 ties, returned 2 next day on Macy's card. Macy claimed my bill was overdue despite receiving payment for 3 ties and was credited for 2. Story is that Macy lost the value of the sale price for the ties since I returned them, so I was to pay for the value of the ties that went down in price? I tried to get customer service but ended up in Philippines help desk with confused customer service. Bottom line is that if you buy anything on sale and return it, you'll get your money back for the item but will owe on the loss of sale price so must be penalized and get $35 monthly late fee charge for that!

i've also experienced price inflation done by Macy's I purchased, an item from Macy's and went back into ther store when they had a sale and foun d the very same item with a stamped sale ticket on it where they blocked out the original price and the price was more than when i purchased the item. They repriced the item so that it appears that you are getting this item on sale. This is considered in my book as false advertisement. Chicago, IL

Macy's continues to list me on all credit reports falsely. I had one of their credit cards. Used it for a small 100 dollar plus buy and paid it on time. They kept billing me. This has gone on 6 or 7 years and they have hurt my credit. I can prove it. I want to sue them for the bad effect it had had on my credit and buying power it is misrepresentation and character assassination. Please help me get these jerks.

I've seen this at the Macy's in Fort Worth, Texas, too. I don't shop there as often anymore because of this issue.

I don't live in CA. But I do notice the same type of false advertisement in St. Louis Mo locations.
