A class action lawsuit has been filed against the Nova Scotia government and the Atlantic Lottery Corporation on behalf of gambling addicts in the province. The suit alleges that either the defendants did not study the impact of video lottery terminals when they were introduced in the early 1990s, or that they ignored evidence of their harmful effects. The suit also claims that the province was motivated by profit when it placed the machines in high-traffic areas.
