Class action status has been certified in a lawsuit filed against Geico Corp. on behalf of approximately 30,000 Illinois policyholders. The suit alleges that the company forced the plaintiffs to use lower-quality aftermarket parts when fixing their vehicles. These parts are modeled after the original parts, however they can cost 20 percent to 30 percent less than parts made by the manufacturer. The suit claims that the aftermarket parts do not restore a vehicle to its original state.
