A national class action lawsuit against Ford Motor Company, originally filed in 2004, and reversed in 2007, was reinstated earlier this week, by the Oklahoma Supreme Court.
The suit alleges that the accelerator pedals in certain models of Ford Super Duty Pickup Trucks and Excursion sport utility vehicles were defective, so that when the driver 'stepped on the gas' the vehicle would idle instead of accelerate.
Because the number of plaintiffs could be between 300,000 and 500,000, the damages sought could run between $60 million and $100 million, or about $185 for every pedal replacement.
