Two lawsuits alleging price fixing by eight lending title companies have been filed in California and are seeking class action status. The companies named as defendants in the suit are: Fidelity National Title Co., National Financial Co., First American Title Co., California Title Co.; Commonwealth Land Title Co.; Lawyers Title Co.; Old Republic Title Co.; and First California Title Co. The suits charge the companies with violations of antitrust laws, and allege that the companies discussed and set the price for California title insurance during the recent refinancing boom.
