Class action status is being sought for a lawsuit that has been filed against Manhattan-based drugstore chain Duane Reade on behalf of employees who worked for the company from Nov. 5, 1998, to the present. The suit alleges that the company violated state and federal regulations by misclassifying certain employees as night managers, although they devoted 90% of their time to non-management duties such as unpacking boxes, stocking shelves and taking out garbage. The suit further claims that the plaintiff's routinely worked 60 hours a week without overtime pay.
