A class action suit has been filed against Gov. John G. Rowland and the Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services on behalf of a group of state psychiatric workers, who feel they were unfairly terminated based on their age and job category.
As part of the governor's budget reduction plan, approximately 55 psychiatric social workers are scheduled to lose their jobs next month. They are only certified to work within the state system, and will almost certainly have problems finding jobs as social workers in the private sector.
