Class action status is being sought in an antitrust lawsuit filed against DeMilta Iron and Metal of Willoughby, Ohio, as well as about a dozen other companies who are buyers of scrap metal. The suit was filed in May 2002 and alleges that the companies attempted to drive down the prices that they paid for scrap metal for an eight year period ending March 2000. The plaintiffs, who include customers of the defendants, are claiming that damages in the case could amount to "millions of dollars."
