A discrimination class action lawsuit has been filed against the 1,000-salon hairstyling chain Hair Cuttery and its parent companies Creative Hairdressers Inc., and the Ratner Cos.. The suit alleges mistreatment and claims that the plaintiffs were refused service because of their race. According to the complaint, the Hair Cuttery "systematically engaged in a pattern and practice of refusing service to African-American women, 'passing over' African-American women to wait on non-African-American customers, providing delayed service to African-American women and charging African-American women more for their services than are charged to non-African-American customers and at prices in excess of the salons' list price."
