A class action lawsuit has been filed against Brown Group Retail and Redfield Rifle Scopes Inc. on behalf of about 2,000 residents of Denver's Cook Park neighborhood. The suit is seeking $280 million dollars in damages that they say were caused by a "sea of toxic chemicals" which have contaminated the air and groundwater at their homes. The suit claims that the company "acted without regard for the risks and the safety of the plaintiffs, hiding contamination even when the facts were put right in front of them," and that the company knew for years that it had "unleashed a health risk on the community" yet they did nothing.
