A class action lawsuit has been filed against the media company for allegedly discriminating against pregnant employees. The class action claims women who return to work from maternity leave find themselves demoted, replaced by junior males, paid less than before, and shut out of management meetings.
The suit was filed in Manhattan Federal Court on behalf of new moms at the company and notes that it is unlawful to discriminate against women based on their pregnancy or act on stereotypes concerning their roles as caregivers. The New York-based company employes more than 9,000 people in more than 125 offices around the world. It was founded by New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg.
