A class action lawsuit has been filed against the British Columbia College Pension Fund on behalf of several thousand members of the Fund. The suit is charging the trustees of the Pension Board with inappropriately distributing a $120 million surplus in the Fund. According to the suit, retired and deferred vested members, (the plaintiff class in this lawsuit), represent between 24% to 41% of the liabilities of the Fund, yet they received only 4% of the surplus. The remaining surplus was allocated to employers and active employees.
