Class action status will be sought in a lawsuit filed against the South Australian Government on behalf of several hundred boys and girls who were sexually abused while wards of the state between 1960 and 2004. The suit alleges negligence, claiming that the state government failed to appropriately screen staff before they were hired. "It is also alleged the state failed in its duty of care by not ensuring proper controls and supervision were in place to prevent predatory sexual activity."
