A class action lawsuit has been filed against the property owner alleging water damage at the Archstone Westbury apartment complex caused toxic mold and mildew. The lawsuit was filed against Archstone-Smith on behalf of residents of the 400-unit luxury complex. Water seeped into the walls of the upscale development, soaking insulation and threatening interior mechanical equipment and structural integrity.
On November 27, 2007, Archstone-Smith sent letters to each tenant asking that they move out by March 31, 2008 so that renovations could begin.
Perkins Eastman was the architecture firm that designed Archstone Westbury and Houston-based Raymond Engineering designed the complex's plumbing system.
