Match.com Facing Consumer Fraud Class Action Lawsuit

- by

San Francisco, CA: Match.com LLC is facing a proposed consumer fraud class action alleging the dating site is in violation of state law for failing to inform clients that they can end their service agreements by sending a letter to the company.

Filed in California federal court by Plaintiff Zeke Graf, the lawsuit alleges that in 2012, when Graf joined Match.com, the company' contract did not cite a notice required by California law stating that new customers can cancel their contracts within three business days by sending a letter.

Additionally, Graf' complaint maintains that a consumer can cancel their contract with a dating service at any time, should it fail to comply with the law. Match' contract stated otherwise, according to the suit.

"In fact, defendant' contract explicitly stated that plaintiff' subscription with defendant would remain active until the end of plaintiff' subscription period following plaintiff' cancellation of said dating service contract,"the complaint states.

Therefore, Graf contends, Match.com is forcing Californian daters to enter into contracts that require them to waive protections granted under state law, and this has been taking place for at least the past four years.

According to the complaint, through its contract practices, Match.com is running a scheme to make "money from California consumers through false, deceptive, and misleading means."

"Defendant had other reasonably available alternatives to further its legitimate business interest, other than the conduct described herein, such as adequately disclosing the notice of consumers' rights to cancel contacts with defendant,"the complaint states.

Graf seeks to represent a class of California consumers who bought subscriptions to Match.com during the past four years and whose contracts failed to include their cancellation notice rights.

Graf is represented by Abbas Kazerounian and Matthew M. Loker of the Kazerouni Law Group APC and Joshua B. Swigart of Hyde & Swigart.

The case is Graf v. Match.com LLC, case number 2:15-cv-02913 in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California.

They stole my money as well. I read their terms of service. I never violated any of their rules. I never said anything rude. I never said anything considered inappropriate. I never double messaged anyone. I am a gentleman. I paid over $200 for a 12 month prescription. I had it for 3 weeks and they terminated me. They said I was soliciting. I've never slept with a prostitute in my life, nor have I ever searched for one online.
Match is a con. Here's why they do what they do. It costs them $5-10 a month to keep your profile up and running, but if they can delete 30,000-40,000 profiles a month, they can pocket a lot of money. With millions of profiles , the 30,000-40,000 people who are deleted slip under the radar.
I also believe that we have a corrupt justice system. Imagine if you bought a $200 plate at an expensive restaurant but they didn't deliver your food. Then they came out and said, "sorry, you violated our dress code. Goodbye." If they didn't refund you you're money their business would soon be closed down by the local police. Yet online, no one cares. Imagine the tens of thousands of people who have been stolen from and no ones does anything to stop this.

We need to sue Match.com. This dating site is awful and suffering so many people who lost so much money thousands and millions dollars. Match knows that many fake profiles and many professional scammers are active on heir website every day but they don’t care. Match.com has not warning theses words for the users “fake profiles and scammers” on the page I signed up. I am a victim in this case and I lost approximate $280,000.00 and my membership was automatically renewed without my permission last year May 2018.
If we don’t sue Match.com they are continuing to hurt many users for who don’t know there are many scammers and fake profiles on this dating site. I really need help for my case. Thank you for reading my message.

I had a profile years ago for which I cancelled membership. This last year, I considered starting a new profile and found that Match still had my information. I never completed the new profile and thus never posted it. I received weekly match potentials in my emails. I recently tried to cancel my profile but my password would not work. I requested new passwords and they would not work. I started to receive an onslaught of messages saying that people were liking my profile or were sending me messages. I never even completed and posted a profile. I put my profile on hidden. However, I still kept receiving notifications of messages and likes. I called match.com and someone said they would close my profile. However, I still kept receiving the notifications. I called a second time. I told the woman that I wanted my profile information deleted. She told me that they are not able to do that. They keep the customer profiles for their data. I told them to delete my photo. They also told me that the reason I keep receiving notifications is due to marketing and they should stop in a couple days. Which is what the first woman said. However, close to two weeks later, I am still receiving notifications of messages and likes. I can no longer access my account because the woman said she would change my password so that I could not access the account. I am not sure why this was supposed to have helped. When I click on the messages received, I can see my photo still in the little profile icon. I feel like they have not removed my profile or photo. I am very frustrated and feel like they are a scam and do not appreciate photo being out there.

I will happily show the over 120 fake profiles I found on Match that are so beyond obviously fake due to the same content and photos that do not match the one liners Match staff writes. Match refused to refund my measly month even though I sent in endless fake profile complaints. I would laugh except they make so much money off people and don't care to even bother to just be honest and not pad their system. They use 6 or 7 one liners that they say men are just choosing to use fort their profile but clearly none of the 120+ all chose the same one liners to describe themselves out of context when they didn't even match them e.g. a heavy set senior saying he is active and a gym rat and 45...and a man who is in front of a race car but says he's shy. I saved all of the lines and my friends and I had a good laugh but really I wasted the month because every time I would look through the profiles I maybe found 3 that were seemingly real with the rest using the one liners and no other info or pix. A complete scam. Really sad.

I used match.com for 1 day, tried to cancel my subscription. I went through 7 different windows, and was 100% sure that I had cancelled it. Well then today they charge me 71$ for their shitty service. Their app.is impossible to navigate and customer service is completely shit and zero help. They would not refund my account even though they can see that I attempted to cancel it and have not logged in since the 2nd day. Match is a scam and people should avoid this service at every chance they get. Anything but match!!!!!

Hi is if there is info on a class action lawsuit against match for fraud I want in. Match is a scam. I signed up for six months and purposely stayed off and got no activity. All of a sudden the day my subscription ends I start getting all this activity daily and have to pay to see. This has been going on for years and it needs to stop

On Nov.23,2017 I renewed my 6 month guarantee subscription after getting a email from Match offering me a good rate on the 6 month guarantee subscription as the email stated. So I renewed my subscription. I called Match to inquire about the 6 month progress page and was told that I only had a 6 month subscription not the 6 month guarantee. Match pulled a bait and switch scam on me I even forwarded their email to them that stated 6 month guarantee subscription and that each renewal would be $59.97. Match refused to refund my money and I now have my bank disputing the charge. This also happened to one of my friends. Match is a big scam company and does not care about people. Watch out about their bait and switch scam.

I purchased Match's services in full faith and complete understanding I would be charged for my first 3 months. Match notified me that they would renew my services and charge my credit card, I did not want them to do that but there was NO option to opt out. Instead, I put a reminder in my phone for the day before the services were to be renewed. I put the date in wrong and missed my deadline by about a week after. I never received ANY notification that my card would be paid or asked if I wanted to renew my services. I emailed requesting a reimbursement and cancellation OR at a minimum pro rated services where I pay for the five days. Instead match said their policy would not allow them to refund. I said then re fund me for all of the future days I will not being using. They said they would not be able to. I completely turned off my service and am being charged for services I'm not using.
I emailed a second time and they never responded.
I called today after searching very hard to find a phone number. The man I spoke to Geff, said they allow for certain instances within 30 days but this would not qualify. I told him on the account was noted by email I had contacted match within the 30 days but he just said I was denied then because I had sent an email from my account. I guess that's true since I didn't know it had crossed a renewal period. Still, I contacted them within 30 days. I asked Geff if I could speak with a manager, he said they would all hold to the same policy, I said that's fine I would like to talk with a manager. He asked if there was anything he could help me with I said let me talk to a manager, and would not let me and ended the call.

Why didn't i read all this review before i subscribed ?
Just ended up paying 50$ for 1 month. In 131$ they refunded me only 80$ for cancelling the next day. This is the worst customer facing company i have ever dealt with. My representative went to the extent saying - "Now i have to tell you we CANNOT even process your 80$ refund. Do you have any other question" -
indirectly threatening me!! The actual service itself sucks too! I have had many nicer dates in other FREE sites. PLEASE STAY AWAY.

Match.com is a scumbag operation. I signed up again because I thought I'd give it another shot so I was curious to see all the women that supposedly "LIKED" me! SURPRISE, all of them very attractive but unfortunately THEIR PROFILE INFORMATION IS NO LONGER AVAILABLE!! No problem with match though leaving their attractive pictures up...

MATCH.COM IS A SCUMBAG OPERATION AND I'D LOVE TO SEE THEM GET SUED RIGHT OUT OF BUSINESS.

Match and OKCupid are operated by the same company, Match Group. I signed up for a profile, never clicked on the verification email, did not post a single pic, interests, etc and started receiving "Cindy likes you too" (when in fact I never logged in or liked anyone), or "Jill thinks you're a match (when in fact there was nothing to like since I had no pics or info on the profile).

Match.com is based in Dallas Tx, The funny thing is, its not just match. It seems like a lot of these "dating" sites are in Dallas, TX. Don't believe me? Take a look at the following website:
www.bbb.org/search/?type=category&input=Dating%20Service&location=Dallas,%20TX&tobid=60282-000&filter=business

They have been scamming people left and right. They help people alright, help ruin their confidence. I hope match.com goes to hell. I am a current member and have been a memeber before just to spend all the money and not have about 250 unreturned messages. Its not people, its match. Its not the money that I care about, its other people. I am going to take this experience very personally and make sure I do whatever I can to ruin the business because if I don't do my part, they will keep ruining lives.

I have just found out that match has stolen over a thousand dollars on my card and they will not connect me to anyone in charge. I've called several times. In the first month, I reported that one of their members was harassing me and sending vile messages especially, when they failed to get them off the site (like they promised), I cancelled although I sent emails, phone calls and letters, I eventually had to shut down my email to avoid this guy and without a confirmation email that I cancelled, they had the right to steal from me.
I am so frustrated with this situation. They are crooks!

Shut my account down and was billed anyway. I will never use them again.

How do these guys stay in business? Why don't the Feds shut them down? Their whole business model is to rip people off. With any normal company, if your subscription was renewed and you didn't want it renewed, they would refund your money. Not Match. It is basically a criminal enterprise. They should be indicted for racketeering. The funny thing is the site itself is not bad. I have no problem with the site. I have a major problem with their business practices.

They continue to e mail me, you cannot use the unsubscribe button, emailed them back stop emailing or I am taking legal action with states attorney and private attorney, it does not stop, the US Government needs to shut this company down,

My account got automatically renewed without my consent They will not give me a refund plus they cancelled my subscriptions. They keep my money plus did not supplies any service. This company has a practice of continuing to charge members after their subscriptions have expired or after the subscriptions have been canceled. Please Stay AWAY from match. They are crooks.

I cancelled Match in August 2016. 3 months later they charged my card $74.97. I had my credit card company dispute it, but since Match never sent me a cancellation notice, I lost the dispute. Rip-off scam company!

I signed up for 6 months subscription back in may 2016. Two days ago (November 30th) my account got automatically renewed without my consent.
When I called to have it refunded they said the renewal form from 6 months had an auto-renewal clause to it, which of course I didn't notice. Also they claim that since I sent an e-mail after the auto-renewal (of 2 days ago) my account is not eligible for refund.

I cancelled my match account almost 2 years ago. I have not received a notification or used the account since then. However, they have been charging my expired credit card without my knowledge. I became aware of this due to a recent credit report check. They have taken apx $600 out of my account for services I have not been using. So far, I'm getting the run around on a refund.

Posted by

on
I have hidden my profile, not aware about when would my subscription end. Then I found out that I was charged $119.94 as part of "auto-renewal" and when I called them to get refund, they refused it because I've asked for refund 6 months ago that the company policy is to give ONE REFUND PER YEAR! It's really a scam!

Posted by

on
I I also cancelled my match.com account but was billed 71.97 because apparently I didn't do it properly. Then the rep told me that she unhid my profile because I may as well use it! Well, good news! I filed a claim on PayPal and relieved a FULL refund!!!

They charged me 160 when it was only supposed to be 119. Apparently this was in US dollars which they had not indicated anywhere...and seeing as how I'm from Canada, how does that make sense?

I called and they put me through to a resolution specialist who couldn't answer anything and quite frankly sounded like he doesn't know what his job is or how to formulate a sentence. He then hung up on me because his resolution skills were no where to be found.

What a joke. I'll be sure to not recommended this piece of shit site to anyone.

On January 7, 2016, my three-month subscription with Match.com ended. I had canceled several days prior as well as hidden my account and taken down all my pictures and descriptions. (I hid the account as I know Match shows inactive profiles and presents them as active to current members, and I did not want my profile shown anymore.) I have had several subscriptions with Match in the past and never had a problem canceling my subscription this way before.

On August 7, 2016 I noticed a charge of $59.97 from Match on my bank statement. I called to find out it was the THIRD renewal they had billed me for since January, making a total of $179.91. They said I had never canceled and wanted an email with the confirmation to prove it. I don't think I ever received that email, but if I did I'm sure it was deleted. Again, I had never had to "confirm" my cancellation before.

Selecting the cancel option on the account page of their website is how I was told to cancel from a customer service rep when I wanted to make sure I was cancelling my first subscription correctly in 2011. There were no other steps. It worked then and worked with several other Match subscriptions I've had until this last one.

On August 8, 2016 I called and spoke with several representatives at Match including the Resolution Department. They all said the same thing: I had not canceled the right way and without the cancellation confirmation number from the email they could not do anything about it.

Match has taken $179.91 for nine months of service I did not use, did not know I was paying for and did not intend or agree to be paying for. Since they cannot refund my money I requested that they actually DO cancel the account this time, and I STILL have not received this so-called cancellation email. The record of my last login was January 7, 2016. I too had a representative hang up on me.

This is a dishonest, sleazy scam of a business that deceptively and dishonestly takes your money. I can't believe what they are getting away with and hope they get the sh*t nailed out of them in the lawsuit.

All I can say is that match.com is a total scam! It took only about 15 minutes to find female pictures on About him! I did copy and paste on a few lines of " His Summary" and place it on google to find out that most of the profiles are already classified as scammers! What a waste of time! And what a waste of money!

I had ordered one year subscription last year, Match.com did not send notice for due days or notice for charge, they automatically charge my credit card for $242.42 on May 18, 2015 without my knowledge, until I checked my credit card account in June, then I found out the charge and called them, the guy called Romnardo canceled my subscription and said refund the money to my account, I am waiting do not see any money back to my account, I called today, the lady Mark said I can not get any refund because I did not notice the charge over one month, I said even so, giving my partial refund, they refused to do so. I am wondering without my knowledge to charge my account and refuse to make refund it right or not? I tried to talk to supervisor, the supervisor refused to talk to me, she said she is in other line, I said I can wait up for few hours, Mark said no. Is it right?

I joined Match.com after my divorce in 2013. Played around with it while being overseas in anticipation of meeting someone when I went back home.
Ended my subscription and profile after a few months and never thought about it again. Never received an email from them moving forward..
Literally today while transferring money to my daughter, I see a charge that indicated "match.com". This company has been charging me 68 USD every three months for the past 3 YEARS and I cannot even access the site..
Called the company to get the run around and told "no refunds"
Total scam..

In march 2015 I was charched in my Credit card the renewal. I wrote to PayPal to cancel de charge, they told me I had to así Match.com. So I did the very sane Day. They told me as a reply they would make the refund in 15 days. They claim to have done it. I sent them proof from PayPal and my bank. So they insist I have to ask PayPal. And PayPal says match.com should make the refund. I have all mails. It is the time I do not get my money back.

I had subscribed to Match for 4+ years and then cancelled my subscription. I have been on and off over the years by hiding my profile. I cancelled my subscription permanently or so I thought. I have not had a problem with charges - my problem is my profile is out loud as though I am still available. I have received daily emails from match attempting to get me to resubscribe. I cannot log on to the site as they will not allow it until I pay. However, my profile pops up as one of the first when a person is searching for someone in my age group. I live in a small community and find it appalling that they will not remove my profile as requested. They also stated that I was on the website just a few days before which is a complete lie. Match.com is a fraudulent operation. It is unfortunate and shameful.

Absolute Scam. Amazing how I only get interest from very attractive women all over the country and yet, it usually only takes a few hours until every one of those profiles disappear. It's scum bag operation, has been for years. If you don't know how to stop your subscription, then call your credit card company and Ban Match.com from charging your card at the end of the contract. Would love to see the company go broke for millions of customers they have lied to and ripped off. They are professional theives.

I can't tell you how happy I am to see all of these complaints. Match has stolen money from me in the process of signing me up when I did not want to reinstate my subscription. They have added selections to my subscription and refuse to remove them. They do not answer emails and their phone number is almost impossible to find......800-926-2824. I told them specifically not to retain my card number but they did and used it to resign me. They refuse to refund my money and the two low life individuals I finally was able to talk to were horrible people (1 called me at 10:00 PM (night). The fake people / profiles is rampant and the fake emails they send out are continuous. I could go on for hours about them.
I am considering legal action and would be interested in anyone that wants to participate. In the meantime, if I do not receive my refund in 3 days I will send this dissertation to 50 members a day along with access information to this site.

Yep, done with match, I just cannot affiliate with such an unethical company. I simply wanted to cancel, so reading the almost impossible delete profile instructions, it sent me into a loop, so I finally called, and was reassured my profile would be deleted. I asked for an email confirmation, I was assured I would receive one. I never did, they just want to assure you cannot delete so they can deep charging your credit card. Now I have to call again, wish me luck.

what bothers me is that when you write to someone, and you are joining to be able to write to someone, that someone , if not active, is BLOCKED FROM READING the very note you paid to write them. as a paid subscriber, you should be able to know that every visible profile you write to CAN read the note but they can not.. so unless they are a current member, they never see the notes we all pay to write.. I feel EVERYONE should get all notes written to them, then that person can decide to pay the monthly fee IF they want to respond back but how is it ethical to charge people to write to profiles when they have no way to know if the member in that profile is active, or not able to view the notes written to them.. ONLY active members should be displayed if match refused to forward notes.. in the prior former years they did it that way but the last few years they block ALL notes to anyone you write to if they are not current.. NOT ETHICAL in my opinion and taking money from subscribers to write people who are blocked from viewing the notes they receive.

I signed up for match.com and immediately regretted it. I canceled my subscription the same day. When I got an email from them saying I would have the service for 6 months and that to contact customer service with any questions, I did. I clicked on their link and emailed to them that I wanted a refund. They never responded. I emailed again 10 days later no response. I finally got them on the phone and they said they are a no refund companyn not even it was 24 hours since I canceled.

Match.com is terrible. There are so many fake profiles, You NEVER get responses from 90% of the emails you send. It is a HUGE waste of time. You have to get LUCKY to meet one person. Their customer service is brainless. I have had NASTY women send me vile emails with profane language. I report them to customer service and nothing happens. Their profiles are still there next week even though they broke the rules..Terms of Service..!!! Match is poorly run and just GREEDY for $$$$$$$$$$$

I paid for 3 months and then cancelled well in advance. I came across many fake guys. I feel sorry for the vulnerable girls they take advantage of. After I cancelled I still get bombarded by emails of winks and guys interested. How do they see my cancelled profile?? I have been keeping a close eye on my bank account to make sure the don't charge without my knowledge. Now I have little trust in any of these sites. I will tell everyone I can never to sign up and give any of them money.

Like many of you, i joined this site with high expectations, to only find that 90% of the connections on match are fraudulent. I signed up a few weeks ago to find out that a refund is not an option. What a scam!
If a firm is taking this on, i'm in to getting my money back.

I cancelled my trial subscription with Match.com early in 2013. Shortly thereafter, my bank cancelled my debit card for suspicious activity and issued me a new card. In November, I was charged a recurring fee from Match for $71.97, ON MY NEW CARD! How did they get my new debit card number is a mystery in the least, and without question a fraud. No amount of effort on my part has been successful in getting them to stop charging me. I went into my Match.com account and cancelled my subscription years ago and they're still charging me.
I want in on the class action case.

I joined match, but after 2 weeks they terminated my account without any explanation. They will not give any explanation of my violation and will not refund any money. Stay away from match or you will suffer the same scam issues.

I've been rather irresponsible and basically been paying for over a year for non authorised payments. So, I got onto Match.com last month had email confirmation (after emailing my statement to them) that any payments linked to my account would be cancelled. Well, I've checked my bank today and yet another payment has been taken out. Its disgusting. How they are still operating is beyond me.

I'm literally on the phone to my bank now cancelling any payments to match.com and they have confirmed that they get this A LOT!

Good luck people x

My story is the same as others posted here. Based on my experience and according to the Better Business Bureau, this company has a practice of continuing to charge members after their subscriptions have expired or after the subscriptions have been canceled. I was charged in excess of $100 in membership or subscription fees after having canceled the membership and after I specified that I did not want automatic renewal. My attempts to contact match.com regarding the illegal charges on my credit card were unsuccessful. Attempts to contact the company by phone only yielded excessively long wait times and an automated recommendation that I attempt to contact the company on another day. Online chat sessions were ended immediately after I stated I was seeking a refund of unauthorized charges. And there were no responses to my emails. The company's customer service is a joke. Match.com seems to be perpetrating various forms of fraud. I am pleased to learn someone is taking legal against this company.

Match can not continue yo get away with this kind of customer fraud. This is injustice to everyone. This happened to me on 1/7/2016. This is another class action law suite and I will not stop here. I will find an attorney to help the public. What does it take yo stop Match from continuing to take advantage of the consumer.
We need to stand up for ourselves.

I don't live in California but mine is the same story. I had the date in my phone under notes of when I needed to cancel my subsrciption by to avoid future charges. I had used the site for 2 days and received nothing but spam and requests to send money to bail out "my future wives" and women that would come live me after I sent them $5,000. It's a total, disgusting joke of a site where 95% of the contect and people are total bullshit. I just got off the phone with a very rude Indian man (nothing against Indians, he was just a rude and his English was horrid), who told me the charge was my problem. Same story as everyone else. I told him to cancel the account then and send me something IN WRITING saying it was cancelled so that I can dispute any future fraudulent charges. It's been an hour. Do you think I received an e-mail? Nope. They are a joke that should forced out of business. I would join and testify under oath if any class action lawsuit were to forward for citizens in Pennsylvania. I hate them with a passion.

How shameful...After initially subscribing to match, I deleted my profile, changed my renewal payment status, emailed customer service and canceled my account. Only to discover that match continued to bill me. It was very difficult to actually speak to a person to make sure that everything would close on a good note.

After all I had to get my bank to stop payments on any other charges. By now I've already been taken advantage of. I ultimately spoke to a person in "Costa Rica" They refuse to repay the money they stole as a part of their scheme. They had no issue with letting me know my loss was my problem. I then began to suspect that I wasn't the only person to experience this problem. Wow, so many people have been hurt financially by match. com. Unfortunately I thought they were different...honest. Neither are true.
Match.com is wicked in their dealings.
Never again...

Same issue with me. I signed up for 3mos. Did not have auto-renew engaged on my billing, I had it disabled. I read the terms and realized that they automatically renew if you do not disable auto-renew. I opted out, I'd rather know and send the payment when needed. I had met someone on their site. Concealed my profile. I had no reason to cancel until I knew the guy and I would work out. I had no reason to go into billing and change anything, because I did not sign up for auto-renew. My credit card said they get complaints daily 100's he said. He blocked them from charging again. I called Match.com took notes got the guys name and reference number and he said he would gladly issue a refund. I had no idea they could charge on a Sunday. I called first thing on Monday. The customer care guy " Lewis" said that I had clicked on an e-mail they sent and that engaged the auto-renew. I searched and searched my e-mail Mac Mail and there was no e-mail for me to click on. I have not rec'd a refund. My credit card company sent me this lame and I mean lame proof by Match.com. It did not in any way show that I had agreed to auto - renew. I fail to see why a class action hasn't taken place for fraudulently charging and re-newing it with out permission. Yes, I met a great man, but I refuse to allow fraud. They won't be getting s success story from me.

I signed up for a trial subscription 6 months ago. I stopped using the site after 3 months because I met someone offline.

I have not used the site for over 90 days and was surprised to find a charge on my card for $84. After waiting on the phone for 38 minutes to speak with a Representative, I was told that I was pre-paying for an additional 3 months of subscription. It seemed that they put you on hold for so long simply to get you to give up!

After clearly stating to the Rep that I do not want the subscription (which apparently started on the same day that I disputed the charge), the Rep told me there was nothing they could do... I had to pay for 3 months of a future subscription which I clearly do not want! The Rep confirmed that no notification of the pending charge was sent to me.

It is unethical to charge for future services which I clearly stated I did not want. I am appalled that they continue this practice, especially after reading so many complaints online.

I joined 3 months ago for a small trial fee. Without notice I was charged an addition 78$. I attempted to close my account/profile online twice. Neither went through. So I called, tried to close my account and get a refund because it was an unauthorized charge. They refused a tefund and said because I've paid, I have 3 months left in my membership. I asked why there was no notification that my membership was about to expire and up for renewal...their explanation was that every new account is on auto renewal and unless you change it during initial sign-up, you will be charged...absolutely NO refunds...
In addition, I've also experienced "bait" profiles, so I won't be using that extra three months that I was duped into paying for.... WHAT a SCAM!!!

I had the same experience as the users above. They charged for more months than I'd signed up for, bombarded me with fake profiles, then make it impossible to contact them to cancel

I cancelled my Match.com account TWO years ago. I got the email that said 'Sorry to see you go. .but come back anytime " blah blah. The next year they charged my card for the another year. I called and said I cancelled my account and this charge is not authorized, I cancelled my account, refund my money and they assured me they took me off the auto-renewal. This WEEK I got yet another annual charge to my charge card account. I called them and said this account has been cancelled for two years and is inactive and explained the results of the last year. They said too bad they can't give me my money back. . so I asked for a supervisor. A supervisor called me back and said they were NOT refunding my money and would cancel my account in MAY! WHAT? I said you understand I did not authorize this charge, on a closed account from two years ago that I was ensured was removed from your auto-payment system and you used my card anyway and you are sitting here telling me you won't return the money. He said we are NOT refunding any of your money. FRAUD and THEFT! There should be a class action on the amount of charge cards they've pulled this on! I had to cancel my card so they can't use it again!

You are deceived by the wording and design of their website thinking you are paying for one month 20 dollars but they charge you 160 bucks for 6 months.

I joined match.com on on November 1 and canceled my subscription on November 5th because the site charges for everything and the profiles are not real a friend of mines brother was on the site but he has been married for three years now he told me that he had joined years ago but didn't keep it because he had found someone and his profile is still active? With this information I decided to cancel but when I told them the story and wanted a refund they said no and hung up the phone.
