Lakeridge Health Corp., the Brooklin Medical Centre Inc.
A class action lawsuit has been filed against Lakeridge Health Corp., the Brooklin Medical Centre Inc. and several doctors on behalf of at least 1,800 people who were notified by Durham public health officials of potential exposure to tuberculosis between February and October 2003. The suit claims that the defendants failed to diagnose the case of tuberculosis and also failed to take the proper precautions to prevent transmission of the disease to others, and that they are liable for $200 million dollars for negligence and breach of contract, as well as $20 million dollars in punitive damages
